There Is No Second Chance
Flowering trees and plants. Colors. The sounds of nature - the rustling of trees, the peaceful song of birds, and the gentle lapping of water. All this, in contrast to the constant movement of city life. The immediate shutdown of the brain's machinery upon entering nature shows just how much we need change in our lives. It’s as if the goldfish has finally escaped its glass prison. We are not living in our natural environment - and the effects are devastating.
Today, we took a short drive (just ten minutes) to a beautiful natural spot nearby. We stopped on the side of the road because the baby needed to eat. And in that quiet moment, we had the chance to simply observe and listen to nature and to ourselves. The natural sounds gave us an immediate sense of calm, like a tranquiliser. A healing force that is available to everyone, if only we seek it.
It makes me wonder:
- Is the stress, the noise, and the pressure of everyday life really worth it?
- Are the things we’re chasing, success, accomplishment, worth sacrificing this sense of calm?
- Why should we give up the natural life we were meant to have just to feed our self-imposed desires for more? More money, more status, more possessions.
It’s tragic that we have created prisons for ourselves and call them homes. It’s even more tragic that we give up our connection to nature in exchange for a "better life", which, in modern terms, often means bigger and more luxurious prisons.
I don’t have the answer. I would love to know the secret to finding balance between human success and a life in harmony with nature. But I don’t have it. What I do know is that when a person feels trapped by the pressures of daily life, work stress, traffic, endless to-do lists, the way out is through nature. If the next question is, "Yes, but how will I make a living?" - that question comes from the very insecurity that city life creates. When the heavy burdens of industrialised life fade away, the human spirit will naturally seek what brings it joy and fulfillment.
Don’t wait too long to find the life you truly seek.
